The 'Virtual' Liverpool Telescope

LTRobot simulates the operation of a robotic telescope.

Simple instructions are entered into a Command Box and the telescope (displayed in 3D) responds by targeting the object under investigation.

The co-ordinates of objects are easily be found by clicking on the stars, planets and faint objects displayed on the electronic star map. A number of star maps are available so that pupils can use the simulated telescope to observe further interesting objects in the night sky.

A workshop is available in the HowTo section of the Astro Menu, which can help pupils (and teachers) learn how to observe the night sky using the 'Virtual' Liverpool Telescope. Pupils can use the telescope control language to create interesting observing schedules with varying degrees of sophistication.

LTRobot can be downloaded from this website once your school has registered.
