The Liverpool Telescope (3D computer simulation)
In general, pupils will not be familiar with the construction and movements of a modern research telescope such as the Liverpool Telescope.
LT3D is a 3D simulation of the LJMU Liverpool Telescope (LT), which allows the keyboard cursor keys to simulate the movement of the telescope in Altitude (vertical) and Azimuth (horizontal).
It also allows teachers to describe the various components of the telescope, and show in more details how telescopes, such as the LT, work to collect light from distant objects.
LT3D can be downloaded from this website once your school has registered.
