LT3D - Download
| Downloading |
The software comes as a self-installing executable file. The file is quite large (about 13 Mbyte).
Download the file to your machine by clicking on the button below. Then "run" the file (this can usually be done by doubling-clicking on the file icon) and follow the Installation Instructions
| Installation Instructions |
Once the program has set itself up, you will be asked some questions about exactly where you want to install the software on your computer.
If you accept all the defaults, you will be able to run the program from within the "Schools Observatory" section of your Start/Programs menu.
| System Requirements |
| Operating system: | Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP |
| Processor: | The program should run on almost any machine capable of running Windows, but it may be slow to start. |
| Hard disk space: | About 30Mbyte for the installed program and a further 24Mbyte during installation. |
| Memory: | At least 32MByte of RAM is recommended although less may be sufficient. |
| Graphics: | A minimum resolution of 640x480 pixels is recommended displaying at least 256 simultaneous colours. |
| Problems: | 28/3/03: Problem with Pentium 4 machines fixed Earlier versions of LT3D had some problems with Pentium 4 machines (particularly with Windows XP, ME or 2000) due to a failure in the backwards compatibility of the processor. We have built a new version of LT3D which bypasses this problem. Please download the latest version. |
| Notes for the system manager |
LT3D has been carefully designed to make as few modifications to your system as possible. This means that it installs all of the files that it requires within its own directories. This should mean that uninstallation should be smooth, but it does make the software quite large.
| In case of problems |
Please note that while we do everything we can to ensure that the software is reliable, we cannot test it under all possible circumstances. Any comments and suggestions are very much appreciated and should be sent to Andy Newsam at software@schoolsobservatory.org.uk. The more detail you can provide about your problem the better. In particular details of your system (Which type of Windows? Is it networked? etc) are essential.
