Obtaining Evidence
You now need to ask the Liverpool Telescope to observe a planet.
Step 1: Request a planet observation
Use the Go Observing page and select the Planets option. After entering your username, click OK and you will be given a list of planets, each with a coloured timeline showing how "observable" they are - red being the most observable and blue the least.
Select the most observable planet and click OK below. You will then be given a summary of the observation you are about to make. Check the summary and then click on Submit Observations. Enter your username again and the password and you will then receive confirmation of the request.
Step 2: Monitor progress
Because of poor weather or the occasional system failure, your observations may take a few days to come back. To check how things are going, select the My Observations option on the Go Observing page.
Step 3: Download your Images
Once the telescope has completed your observations, you can download the image data using the My Observations option on the Go Observing page. Remember to make a note of where you saved the files on your computer.
