...Blazar.Outburst...

On 11th May 2005, Prof. Ian McHardy of Southampton University contacted the Liverpool Telescope team to tell them that the object 3C454.3 (a special kind of Quasar called a Blazar) had undergone a massive outburst!

The telescope was immediately set up to monitor the object night after night to see what could be learnt from this rare and dramatic event.

Prof. McHardy has also decided that he would like you to share in this exciting experiment, so he is allowing us to make the observations available to registered schools as soon as they are taken!
