The Merseyside Connection

The Liverpool Telescope is not only named after Liverpool, but was also built there by a company called

TTL continue to make robotic telescopes for astronomers all over the world, but the Liverpool Telescope was the first. The company are located at the Twelve Quays Industrial Park in Birkenhead, next to the Astrophysics Research Institute of Liverpool John Moores University.

Many of the parts for the telescopes that TTL produce will be manufactured locally, which places Merseyside as a world leader in robotic telescope technology.
