Liverpool Telescope image of Comet C/2002 T7
This Comet is a particularly exciting one as it may soon become visible to the naked eye.
Comets move across the sky quite fast when they get close to the Sun. This means that the telescope has to track the comet in a different way than normal stars, where only the rotation of the Earth is important. If you look carefully, you should be able to see how the stars in the background have been "stretched" as the telescope has followed the comet during the exposure.
This false colour image was created using LTImage.
