Astronauts, or cosmonauts, are people trained to go into space. This can be to command a mission into space (defined as more than 100 kilometers above the Earth's surface), to be a pilot of a space craft, or to serve as a crew member with a particular specialism. Since the 1960s more than 550 people, from over 35 different countries have travelled into space, some for a matter of minutes, and some for many months. In this section you'll find some case studies on a selection of astronauts who have been into space over the last 60 years. If you'd like to hear about the career of someone who's not listed here, why not get in touch.
