More than one telescope

The TTL factory is a very busy place with the different parts of each telescope arriving and ready for assembly.

Here you can see the floor of the TTL factory. Here the three telescopes are assembled and tested.
Telescope Technologies Limited (TTL), a wholely owned subsidiary of Liverpool John Moores University, is also building a telescope for the Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in India. It too is an altitude / azimuth 2 metre class reflecting telescope, and is due to be shipped to India early next year. It will not operate as a fully robotic telescope as the Liverpool Telescope works, instead, astronomers on-site control the instrument. They will be working at a height of 1000 metres in the Pune district of the country. If you are interested to find out the exact location use the following latitude and longitude co-ordinated for the observatory - Latitude 19 deg 4.4 arcmin North, and Longitude 73 deg 50.8 arcmin East

The third telescope being built by TTLis the Faulkes Telescope. This telescope is an exact copy of the Liverpool Telescope. It is also to be fully robotic (nobody in attendance while it operates) and sited on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. This multi-million-pound telescope has been generously donated by Dr Dill Faulkes for educational use by schools.

The Hawaiian Islands are in darkness (night) when the UKis in light (day) and because the telescope is robotic it means that you will be able to operate the instrument from the classroom! It is expected that the Faulkes Telescope will be operating about 6 months after the Liverpool Telescope is up and running in the Canary Islands.
