What is a Telescope?

To help them understand the stars and planets, astronomers use many different kinds of telescope.

Telescopes can make things look bigger and they also help astronomers to see things that are very faint. They do this by using lenses or special mirrors to collect a lot of light.

The telescopes that astronomers use, like the Liverpool Telescope, are very big. These big telescopes help astronomers to see the faintest and smallest things in the night sky.
